She was constructed in 1956 at the shipyard Uljanik in Pula, Croatia. Together with larger “Galeb”, “Vis” was the only one designed exclusively for the commanding purposes. From the early design phase they were meant to become elite commander vessels of the Yugoslav Navy, to serve Tito, famous president of Yugoslavia. Highest ranking navy officers during their service in the former Yugoslavia served on the “Vis”. Every time the “Galeb” sailed outside the Adriatic Sea, or was under reconstruction, “Vis” would become the commander-in-chief's vessel. During that time, “Vis” also welcomed numerous celebrities from show-business and politics, among other, the members of the British royal family were accommodated on “Vis” during the several occasions.

The vessel is unique, designed and manufactured as a luxury yacht, meeting the extremely high standards of final production. She is 58 meters long, on her widest part she measures 8,7 meters, with the draught of 3 meters and the displacement of 670 tons. She was run by two engines of 1000 horsepower each, along with three additional supporting aggregates. The hull was constructed from the best quality steel, and superstructures from aluminum. All decks are covered in top quality, 6 cm thick teak planks. There are two salons on the vessel, one admiral's and the other one was serving as an officer's salon. Originally there were 32 cabins with 52 beds.

During the assessment the hull was inspected on 700 spots, and it showed excellent condition.

To restore the vessel into a yacht, the project group has been formed. The main partners are Arsen Brajkovic as an owner of the ship, Water Line LTD as designer and Project Manager and Tema LTD as supplier of advanced diesel electric propulsion.

The main idea is to restore the admiral vessel „Vis“ into a luxurious mega yacht with capacity of accommodating 12 passengers in 10 cabins for the Mediterranean cruises. The unique atmosphere, absolute discretion and exquisite experience will be offered.

New Vis, will have 5 luxury apartments for two persons, and one for two persons with two children. Behind the engine room will be crew area for 12 crew members, while captain and 1st officer will have their accommodations on the bridge deck. On the lower deck, there is large gymnasium, large SPA with massage room, baths, showers and sauna. Those who will not spent time in SPA and gymnasium, there is a cinema with 12 seats and bar.  On the main deck there is a saloon of almost 80 sqm, and well equipped galley. On the upper deck there is a main bar of 50 sqm connected with open deck partially covered with owning. The owner’s area of it’s more than 60 sqm is situated on the upper deck forward and it consists of owner’s room, owner’s bathroom and guest’s bathroom. The doors on the forward lead to the large forward deck with perspective to the open sea.

The new propulsion electric motors with permanent magnets will be first time installed on ship and with 440 Pb GEL batteries will be possible to shut off all the 6 diesel generators sets but still rotate the propellers at 1/3 of speed for another 2 hours. 34 tons of batteries will be stored in the ventilated space under the lower deck. Additionally, when the ship will be at the anchor or in the port, batteries can be charged with 2 kW vanes on the sun deck.
